Lyle Clark "Pete" Peters, 82, Fairbury went to the other side to agitate on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, rural Chenoa.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Deacon Michael An officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, rural Wing, IL with full military rites conducted by the Fairbury VFW and American Legion posts.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 am Saturday with a Tarbolton Masonic Lodge service at 10:45am also at the Memorial Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the OSF Hospice, Pontiac; Prairie Central Boys and Girls Club, Fairbury; or the Community Cancer Center, Normal.
Mr. Peters was born September 22, 1928 in Wing, IL the son of James Andrew and Wilma Maude Goodale Peters.
Surviving is one son, Ron (Lori) Peters, Fairbury, two daughters, Marge Peters, Sibley, IL, Cheryl (Tim) Wendland, Bloomington, IL, four grandchildren, Justin, Corey and Jeremy Peters and Shelby Wendland, one sister, Delores (Norman) Siefert, Bloomington, IL.
He is preceded by two brothers, Dick and Gera and an infant brother, Leslie.
He served in the US Army and later reenlisted in the US Airforce during the Korean War. Pete was a lifelong truck driver and an active member of the Tarbolton Masonic Lodge #351, Fairbury.
