Obituary

Lyle Edward Riecks, 89, Sun Prairie, WI and formerly of Anchor, IL died 8:00 am Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Hospice Care Center, Madison, WI.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. Burial will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Anchor with full military rites accorded by the Davis-Kerber American Legion Post, Colfax. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax and 10:00 to 10:45 am Wednesday at the church.

Mr. Riecks was born May 10, 1918 at Anchor, IL. The son of Fred and Emma Friday Riecks. He married Joyce Jacobs October 17, 1948 at Bloomington, IL. She died August 10, 1985.

Mr. Riecks is also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irene Kennedy.

Surviving are a son, Steven (Priscilla Horine) Riecks, Cottage Grove, WI, three grandchildren, Melinda (Scott) Westphal, McFarland, WI, Julie Riecks, Walnut Creek, CA, and Anne Riecks, Cottage Grove, WI., one great grandson, Kaden Westphal, and one brother, Eugene (Gerry) Riecks, Anchor, IL.

Mr. Riecks was a graduate of Anchor Twp. High School. He had been employed at M & W Gear, Gibson City for 33 years and was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor. He was a veteran of WWII achieving the rank of Tech Sergeant. He spent time station stateside and Alaska. He had lifelong friends in and around Anchor, his new community of friends in Wisconsin, and his family will miss his caring and friendly spirit.
