Obituary

Mabel Lillian Cottrell, 93, of Chenoa passed away at 7:15 pm, Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at her residence in Chenoa.

Her funeral service will be 10:00 am, Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Chenoa United Methodist Church, Chenoa with Pastor Robb McCoy and Father Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.

Mabel was born February 9, 1916 in Campbellsville, KY, the daughter of William and Florence (Tandy) Colvin. She married Eugene Clair Cottrell on January 12, 1935 in Kankakee. He passed away on May 23, 1982.

Survivors include; four children; James (Martha) Cottrell, Fairbury, Ann Black, Pontiac, Larry (Doris) Cottrell, Sharon (Ray) Hoselton, both of Chenoa, one sister; Judy Martin, Colfax, three brothers; Lindy (Shirley) Colvin, Cardwell, MO, Olin (Nancy) Colvin, Greenville, SC, Bill Colvin Jr., Gridley, sister in-law; Alice Colvin, Chenoa, ten grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren, 3 step great- great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, five sisters and one son in-law; Ronald Black.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to OSF Hospice of Livingston County or Chenoa United Methodist Church.

Mabel was a member of the Chenoa United Methodist Church, Chenoa Women's Club, "Bill's Band", United Methodist Women's group and Pontiac Moose Ladies Auxiliary.
She worked in the cafeteria of the Chenoa School District for 39 years and also was an Avon Consultant for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning.

Family came first to Mabel. She cherished the time she could spend with her children and grandchildren. She was always giving of herself and enjoyed cooking for anyone who walked through her front door.

The family would like extend a special thank you to Dr. Steven Norris, Mary Jo Krall, Rev. Robb, Father Carl, friends; Vista Barrett, and Nina Hoselton, and all the OSF Hospice nurses.
