Margaret J. Claudon, 89, Fairbury passed away at 1:25 am Saturday, February 27, 2010 at her residence in Fairbury surrounded by family.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fairbury with Fr. Scott Archer officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with a rosary to be recited at 3:45 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to the St. John's Catholic Church, Fairbury or to OSF St. James Hospice, Pontiac.
Mrs. Claudon was born August 18, 1920 in Madelia, MN the daughter of Francis Edward and Margaret Isabelle Harrington Rathbun. She married Nelson "Jim" Claudon Jr. on November 24, 1938 in Fairbury. He survives in Fairbury.
Also surviving are three daughters, Barbara (Leroy) Ward and Carol Bryant, both of Fairbury, IL, Mary Lynn (Wally) Ross, Lewiston, MN; eight grandchildren, Kathy (Greg) Popejoy, Fairbury, IL, Mike (Robyn) Ward, O'Fallon, IL, Melanie Ward and Eric Payne, both of Bloomington, IL, Rob Hilligoss, Chicago, IL, Nikol (Jason) Martin, Forrest, IL, Jackie (David) Eisemann, Savoy, IL, Paula (Mark) Bachtold, Fairbury, IL; seventeen great grandchildren, Tyler and Abby Popejoy, Fairbury, IL, LiliAna, Ally, Avery and Michael Ward, O'Fallon, IL, Austin Payne, Bloomington, IL, Jayla Bryant, Jaxson and Jerzee Martin, Forrest, IL, Sydney, Cortney and Mackenzie Eisemann, Savoy, IL, Brooke, Grant, Faith and Jake Bachtold, Fairbury, IL; three sisters, Mary Ann (Bob) Wenger, Fairbury, IL, Frances (Jack) Morris, Champaign, IL, Joanne Paul, San Diego, CA; and two brothers, Jim (Mary) Rathbun, Fairbury, IL, Duane (Irene) Rathbun, Harrisburg, IL.
She is preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia J. Claudon at the age of 3, one infant grandson, James Albert Ward and one infant great granddaughter, Morgan Elizabeth Ward.
Mrs. Claudon was a 1938 graduate of Fairbury Twp High School. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She worked with her husband for many years at Claudon Motor Mart, Fairbury. She also was an accomplished seamstress who provided 3 generations of family with unique creations.
The family has been blessed to be showered with her love. She will be truly missed.
