Obituary

Fairbury: Margaret A. Cox, 93 of Livingston Manor, Pontiac formerly of Fairbury died at 6:58 PM, Monday, June 11, 2007, at Livingston Manor, Pontiac.

A graveside inurnment for Margaret will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Cropsey Cemetery with Pastor Spencer Homan officiating and Tim Huey assisting in the service. Cremation rites will be accorded. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret was born January 8, 1914 in McLean County, IL, A daughter to William and Ida (Ward) Elliott. She married J. Hartzel Cox April 6, 1934 in Pontiac. He died October 12, 2002.

Surviving are 2 sons; Daren L. (Marcia) Cox, Pontiac, William K. (Denice) Cox, Streator, 1 daughter; Phyliss (Bob) Doran, Normal. 8 grandchildren; Dr. Steve (Joy) Doran, Sandy (Tim Huey) Doran, Lynne-Marie Doran, Beth Cox, Neal Cox, Mark (Mandy) Cox, Gregg (Janice) Cox, Amy (Scott) Hagi, 1 step-granddaughter Christie (Garry) Bressi. 16 great grandchildren; Molly, Mary Flynn & Anna Doran, JR., Bill & Tom Elmore, Nathan Fritts, Amanda, Erica, Sarah & Pam Cox, Morgan Cox, Ben & Holly Hagi, Abraham & William Cox, 1 step great grandson; Nolan Bressi, 2 great great grandchildren; Alex & Mia Elmore, 1 sister in-law; Lucy Elliott, Champaign.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 1 brother and 5 sisters.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fairbury and a member of the Charity Home Rebekah Lodge 112, Fairbury for many years. Mrs. Cox was a 1931 graduate of Cropsey High School and attended I.S.N.U. Margaret and her husband farmed in the Strawn and Cropsey area, she also worked in several retail stores in Fairbury, Walton's, Marie's, Tonishoppe and The Dime Store. She had volunteered as a 4-H leader, was a member of the Cheerful Givers, Fairbury and was a past member of the Livingston County Home Extention. She was an excellent quilter and seamstress, completing many quilts for her family.

The family suggests that memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church of Fairbury or the American Diabetes Association.
