Margaret "Katie" Kaisner, 89, of Fairbury died at 5:30 am Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Colfax.
Katie was owner/florist of Kaisner's Greenhouse in Fairbury for 13 years. Sewing was a lifelong hobby and often a profession for Katie as well. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was born March 31, 1919, in Randolph, Kentucky the daughter of William and Flora Pedigo. After graduating high school, she moved to Fairbury where she married Louis H. Kaisner on March 30, 1940, in St. Louis. He preceded her in death April 2, 1983.
Norman Rockwell was her favorite artist. She saw many of the family values he depicted reflected in Fairbury. She appreciated being able to raise her family in a caring and supportive community.
Surviving are three sons, Marshall and wife Marianne, Hudson; Robert and wife Jane, Hudson; John and wife Debbie, Fairbury; one daughter, Phyllis and husband Ken Weiss, Deerfield; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a sister Mary Modest Sartin, Seymour, IN who is 99 years old.
Three sisters and three brothers precede her in death.
Her funeral will be 1:00 pm Friday, December 12, 2008 at the First United Methodist church, Fairbury with Pastor Charles McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. These were places she knew well and visited often as a florist.
The family suggest memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church, Fairbury; Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Colfax or to the charity of the donor's choice.
