Mrs. Marie Katherine Hoerr Huber, 85, of Morton, formerly of Peoria and Fairbury, passed away at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton. Mrs. Huber was born on May 25, 1927 in Bartonville, IL to David A. and Rose M. (Yoder) Hoerr. She married Reuben E. Huber in Peoria on August 22, 1948. He survives.
She is also survived by her 10 children, Bruce (Joyce) Huber of Morton, Grace Huber of Chicago, Steve (Bonnie) Huber of Carmel, IN., Jean (Stephen) Wathen of Highlands Ranch, CO., Donna (Sheldon) Eater of Port St. Lucie, FL., James H. "Jim" (Jean) Huber of Peoria, Ray (Julie) Huber of Normal, Ross (Becky) Huber of Shelbyville, Susan (Bryan) Shields of Gibson City and Janice (Dr. Richard) Elliott of Springfield, MO.
She also had 18 grand-children, Eric Huber, Blake Huber, Nathaniel Huber, Andrew Huber, Allison Huber Winigar, Julia Wathen Fox, Miranda Wathen Laughlin, James C. Huber, John Huber, Michael Huber, Robert Huber, Sarah Huber, Ryan Huber, James Hedderich, Travis Huber, Samantha Huber, Alayne Shields Howle, Elizabeth Shields, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Jim (Virginia) Hoerr of Peoria, John (Dorothy) Hoerr of Edwards and George Hoerr of Brimfield. She is survived by three sisters, Mildred (Art) Moser of Peoria, Florence (Tom) Barkley of Peoria and Eloise Meister of Peoria. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, David, Ralph, Irvin and Carl; and an infant sister, Ruth.
Marie graduated from Peoria Woodruff High School in 1945 and assumed the role of secretary for D.A. Hoerr and Sons, a family-owned landscaping and nursery business in Peoria. She moved with her husband and family to Fairbury in 1954. In addition to being a loving mother of her children, Marie opened her home to many of their friends. For 31 years, she was a faithful and supportive partner to her husband at Huber's Clothing in Fairbury, a successful retail business, retiring with him in 1993. Mrs. Huber and her husband came to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and were baptized in the Apostolic Christian Church in Peoria in 1950. She was a member of that church and the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury, IL until her death.
Funeral services will be held at the Apostolic Christian Church of Fairbury, IL. on Saturday, May 11, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 3 – 8 p.m. on Friday, May 10, at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and from 9 – 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Dominy Memorial Library in Fairbury, Apostolic Christian Skylines in Peoria or Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
