Marjorie L. Walter, 81, Fairbury died at 6:10 pm Sunday, June 1, 2008 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury with the Rev. Spencer Homan officiating. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 10:00 to 10:45 am Thursday at the church.
Mrs. Walter was born November 3, 1926 in Fairbury the daughter of Richard and Edna Bridges Jessup. She married Arthur I. Walter June 22, 1946 at the First Presbyterian Church in Fairbury. He survives in Fairbury.
Also surviving are two sons, Gary (Cindy) Walter, Bloomington, Jay (Sharon) Walter, Fairbury, two granddaughters, Michelle (Josh) Clemons, Bloomington, Ashley Walter, Naperville, one step granddaughter, Melissa (Mark) Tudor, Irvine, CA, one great granddaughter, Lillian Clemons, and one step great grandson, Mark Blair Tudor.
She is preceded in death by one granddaughter.
Mrs. Walter was a 1944 graduate of Fairbury Township High School. She had worked for General Telephone and later worked and retired as a bookkeeper from Fairbury Hospital.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Fairbury and Indian Creek Country Club. With her husband Art they traveled in their RV the entire United States and Canada except for Hawaii, Alaska and two Canadian provinces. She was an avid Cub fan and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends.
The family suggests memorials be given to the First Presbyterian Church or the SELCAS, both in Fairbury.
