Marjory I. Wahls, 101 of Pontiac formerly of Chenoa, died at 3:30 pm Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Evenglow Health Center, Pontiac.
Funeral Services will be 11 am, Friday, February 7, 2020 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa; with Pastor Jeremy Latzke officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Township Cemetery, Chenoa.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa; and one hour prior to her funeral service on Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa; Futures Unlimited, Pontiac; Gideons International, or the Chenoa or Livingston County Food Pantries.
Mrs. Wahls was born September 13, 1918 in Pontiac; the daughter of Charles and Nora (Bauknecht) Mortimore. She married Ervin Wahls on January 31, 1943 in Pontiac. He preceded her in death November 1, 2005. Her parents, three brothers, Earl, John & Harry and one sister, Pearl Johnson also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Roger (Pat) Wahls; Dean (Karen) Wahls both of Pontiac; three grandchildren, Jackie (Dan) Schrader, Michael (Robin) Wahls and Joshua Wahls; four great grandchildren, Brayden & Jacob Schrader and Annalia & Hudson Wahls and many nieces and nephews.
Marjory was a 1936 graduate of Pontiac Twp. High School and became a Registered Beauty Culturist. She was a partner with Ellen (Shane) Schultz in owning-operating Curly Top Beauty Shop in downtown Pontiac until their children were born.
Marjory was a "farm kid" all her life, while a youngster on the Owego Twp. homestead and while rearing her family in Pike Twp. Along with her sister-in-law, Loralee (Hinds) Wahls; they participated in daily farm operations on the family farms their husbands founded together.
Marge enjoyed a blessed life with her family and extended family of many relatives and close friends. Marge and Ervin enjoyed being long-time members of the Cosmo Club, a local dance club in the Pontiac area.
She was a member of the Livingston County Farm Bureau and was active in Pike Twp. Home Bureau where she served a term as president. She was very active in her church, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Chenoa as a Sunday school teacher and in Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
Marjory cultivated a positive attitude in all things, always patient, loving and kind, (with an exception for the Cub's when they were losing).
