Marlene R. Harms, 76, Fairbury died at 4:38am Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, June 18, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fairbury with Fr. Scott Archer officiating. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with a rosary to be recited at 4:30pm.
Mrs. Harms was born June 18, 1934 in Fairbury, IL the daughter of Henry W. and Dorothy A. Schade Haberkorn. She married Richard Dean Harms on August 1, 1959 in Chatsworth, IL. He died on September 5, 1992.
Surviving are two brothers, Gerald D. Haberkorn, Piper City, IL, Charles "Chub" (Dolores) Haberkorn, Chatsworth, IL; two sisters-in-law, Lucy Haberkorn, Chatsworth, IL, Maureen (Jay) Lindhjem, Palmyra, VA; five nieces and nephews, Rodney (Diana) Haberkorn, Chesapeake, VA, Jill (Robert) Dohman, Gibson City, IL, Judy (fiancée, Troy Holmes) Lawrence, Fairbury, C.J. (Shannan) Lindhjem, Powhapan, VA, Erik (Margaret) Lindhjem, Concord, NC.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald D. Haberkorn.
Mrs. Harms was a 1951 graduate of Chatsworth High School. She was formerly employed at Herzog Distribution and later Pittsburgh Tube, both in Fairbury. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fairbury and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Marlene enjoyed going on family vacations. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and never missed any of the great nephew's baseball games.
