Marvin H. Bahler, 101 of Fairbury, IL passed away at 2:45 a.m. at his residence, Fairbury on July 12, 2026. Marvin was born on June 30, 1925, in Cropsey, IL the son of Emil and Ida (Steffen) Bahler. He married Jane Helmers on March 31, 1951, at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. She passed away on September 20, 2018.
Surviving are their three children, Julie (Herman) Drayer, Bluffton, IN, Connie (Bill) Schmidgall, and Steven (Darlene) Bahler, both of Fairbury. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, twenty-two step great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, two step great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law Jeanette Bahler in Fairbury, Lois Lemna in North Manchester, IN, Darlene Helmers in Fairbury and brother Arthur Bahler (Suzanne) in Fairbury.
Preceding him in death were his sisters Helen Frye and Verla Davis, his brother Ralph, a grandson Ray Bahler, brothers-in-law Bill Helmers, Carl Lemna, Ken Broquard, Wayne Davis, and sister-in-law Ruth Broquard.
A visitation for Marvin will be held at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury from 4:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday July 15, 2026. Marvin’s funeral will be at the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church on Thursday July 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with ministers of the church officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 9:00-9:45 a.m. Following the funeral, burial will take place at South Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Fairbury with military rites accorded.
Memorials may be directed to Fairview Haven, SELCAS, St. Jude’s, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Marvin served with the U.S. Army in Korea during the Korean conflict from 1950 until 1952 obtaining the rank of Corporal.
Marvin was engaged in grain and livestock farming for many years. He was a member of the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church and of the American Legion Post 54. Marvin loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
