Colfax - Marvin Joseph Hardesty, 66, of Colfax, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 10:28 p.m. at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 11, 2008, from 5-8:00 p.m. at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax. His funeral will be held Saturday, July 12, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Colfax, with a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Connie Frase will be officiating.
Cremation will be accorded following the services with burial at a later date.

Marvin was born August 1, 1941, in Blytheville, Arkansas to Arthur and Patricia Hardesty. His family later moved to Chicago, where he spent his childhood. He met Sharon Kelley, the love of his life, in 1967 and they were married one year later on April 6, 1968. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Kevin of Springfield, Chad (Missy) of Normal, Neil of Colorado Springs, CO, and Craig of Colfax; grandchildren, Kathryn, Mia, Anias, Noah, Bradyn, Anthony, Kristie and Nicholas; one great grandchild; two sisters, Irma Mielke of Chicago and Faye Hutchinson of Hudson, IL; and one brother, Harold (Grace) of Wheatridge, CO.

Marvin was preceded in death by two brothers, and a sister.

He was a hard working and loyal employee at Darnall Concrete Products, where he retired after a 40 year career. While Marvin was a dedicated worker, what made him smile most was spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a past member of the SIRS flying club and an avid volunteer at St. Mary's soup kitchen.

After retirement he took up golf which he enjoyed playing with family and friends.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Mary's Soup Kitchen or EMCAA.
