Obituary
Mary C. Augspurger, 88, of Chenoa, died at 7:45 a. m. Friday (November 28, 2014) at the Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, among friends.
Funeral services will be 11 am, Saturday, December 6, 2014 at River of Life Outreach Church in Meadows (formerly Meadows Mennonite Church) with Tom Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa.
Visitation will be 9 to 10:45 am, prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Mennonite Central Committee or Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community.
She was born July 5, 1926 at Carlock, IL; a daughter to Walter and Catherine (Boeringa) Porzelius. She married Carl Schmucker on September 20, 1953 and had three children, Jeffrey, Bradley, and Carla. Carl died in an accident on November 29, 1958 before Carla was born. She then married Merle Augspurger in Flanagan on December 9, 1962. He adopted the three children and preceded her in death May 21, 2005. Her daughter, Carla Patterson and one sister Dorothy Becker preceded her in death.
Survivors include her two sons, Jeff (Peggy) Augspurger, Bloomington, IL; and Brad (Dawn) Augspurger, Elkhart, IN, one son-in-law, Tom (Nikki) Patterson, Liberal, KS; two brothers, Fred (Marilyn)Porzelius, Chenoa; and Ernest Porzelius, Bluffton, OH; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Amber) Augspurger, Katie (Marvin) Toering, Benjamin (Jen) Augspurger, Daniel (Lisa) Augspurger, Luke (Haley) Augspurger, Jacob Augspurger, Mariko (Jim) Betts, Luke Patterson; ten great grandchildren; three step grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren, and five step great great grandchildren. She prayed for and loved them all!
Mary was a graduate of the Mennonite School of Nursing in Bloomington. She was a member of Prairieview Mennonite Church, Gridley. She loved the Lord and was always an encourager. Wanting to be Home, "Her Heavenly Home" for Thanksgiving, she was a few hours late, but her family is sure they saved a place for her.
