Chenoa – Mary A. Donovan, 70, of Chenoa, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Chenoa on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Bill Keebler officiating. Burial will follow the mass at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in rural Chenoa.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. Memorial contributions in Mary’s memory may be directed to the Salvation Army. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Mary was born on October 6, 1955, in Springfield; a daughter to Paul and Patricia (Whitehurst) Vogt. She married William Donovan on January 11, 1975, in Odell.
Survivors include her husband William Donovan of Chenoa; four sons, Todd (Erin) Donovan of Sullivan; Mark (Megan) Donovan of Pontiac; Patrick (Angela) Donovan of Chillicothe; Michael Donovan of Chenoa; seven grandchildren, Alex, Brady, Isabel, Lyla, Liam, Eoghan and Elizabeth Donovan; her siblings, Janet (Gary) Waldron, Plainfield; Joyce (Robert) Hinkle, Sarasota, FL; Paul (Sandy) Vogt, Plainfield; David (Sue) Vogt, Genoa, WI; Diane Trost, Pontiac; Leo (Mary) Vogt, Joliet; Bill (Vicki) Vogt, Honey Brook, PA; Ron (Deb) Vogt, Plainfield; Tim (Rita) Vogt, Pontiac; Shelly (Ron) Krominga, Pontiac; Christina (Mike Kelly) Farris, North Liberty, IN; Theresa (Jim) Carlson, Emington; Tony (Jen) Vogt, Downers Grove; Patrick (Lori Stahler) Vogt, Towanda; sister in-law, Deb Vogt, Odell.
Other survivors include brothers-and-sisters in law: Judith Maguire Columbia, SC, Kathleen Paolini, Baltimore, MD, Elaine (Randy) Sommer, Sparland; Karen (Donita Duffee) Donovan, Pontiac; Marge (David) Roach, Fairbury; Timothy (Lori) Donovan, Mahomet; Mary (Greg) Zappa, Bloomington; Jeannie (Joe) Rasmussen, Champaign; James Donovan, Colfax; and sister in-law Judy Donovan, Columbia, MO.
Her parents, one brother, Robert Vogt; one sister, Karen Sue Vogt, one granddaughter, Kylie Donovan and five brother in-laws, Rod Paolini, Rod Maguire, John Donovan, Michael Donovan and Dan Trost preceded her in death.
Mary graduated from Odell High School and after raising her boys went to Heartland Community College, Normal where she received her nursing degree. She was employed at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington and later The Inn at Evenglow, Pontiac. She was truly an exceptional nurse whose compassion and gentle bedside manner brought comfort to everyone in her care.
Mary enjoyed many things in her life, including caring for her home and garden, shopping antique markets for hidden treasures, the Chicago Cubs, and reading countless books on her kindle. Above all else, her family was the center of her world. She shared a beautiful love story with Bill, celebrating 51 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and countless cherished memories. She was immensely proud of her four "well-behaved" sons and welcomed each daughter-in-law into the family with warmth and open arms. Her grandchildren brought her endless joy, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family will be remembered always, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
