Obituary

Normal – Mary Ann Lage, 68, of Normal, formerly of Anchor, passed away at 6:43pm, April 30, 2019, at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

Her funeral will be held at 11:00am, Monday, May 6, 2019, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor.

Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Anchor.

Visitation will be held from 2-5:00pm, on Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor or Faith in Action, Bloomington Normal.

Mary Ann was born Thursday, November 9, 1950, in Chicago, the daughter of Robert and Mary Ann Luetkemeyer Counsell.

She married Ronald D. Lage on July 27, 1974, in Darien. He passed away November 10, 2007.

Surviving are her daughter, Julia (Clint) Harper of Monticello; son, Brent (Alicia) Lage of Anchor; grandchildren, Cole, Caden, and Abigail Harper and Baby Boy Lage to arrive in May; siblings, Barbara (Steve) McHugh of Bollingbrook, Bob (Sue) Counsell of Witicha, KS, Judy (Vince) Donohue of Bloomington, and Joe (Carolina) Counsell of Berwyn; brother-in-law, Steve (Linda) Lage of Jefferson City, MO; sister-in-law, Ellen Kollmann of Lake Zurich; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary Ann graduated from Western Illinois University and went on to teach Special Education.

She retired from Ridgeview Jr/Sr High after more than 25 years. After retiring Mary Ann enjoyed volunteering for Faith in Action.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Anchor where she had served on the church council.

Mary Ann kept her landscape immaculate and enjoyed gardening.

She enjoyed traveling across the United States to visit her nieces and nephews and will be remembered for "Norman Rockwell" Thanksgiving dinners.

Mary Ann had an uncanny ability to remember notable dates and memories of all her family and friends.
