Chenoa – Mary Bernice Nix, 73, of Chenoa, passed away at 10:03am, Sunday, January 20, 2013 at her residence.
Mass will be held at 10:00am on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chenoa. Fr. Carl LoPresti will be officiating.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Chenoa.
Visitation will be from 9-9:45am, on Wednesday also at the church.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Mary was born August 24, 1939 in Pike Township, the daughter of Simon and Helen Craig Heinrich. They preceded her in death.
She married Henry Franklin Nix on January 27, 1962 in Chenoa. He died March 19, 1993.
Surviving are her sons; Tim (Janice) Nix of Chenoa, Mike (Peggy Oneil) Nix of Grafton, and Raymond (Shawn)Nix of Chenoa; daughters; Tina (Larry) Rhoads of Chenoa and Brenda (Eric Johnson) Nix of Chenoa; grandchildren; Lynn Vanover, Bobbie Jo (Brandon) Bachman, Thomas Nix. Ashley (Andrew) Maynor, Carrie Nix, Tony Rhoads, Charles Rhoads, Kalib Dempsey, Cameron Dempsey, Michael Hendrickson, KaTonya Hendrickson; four great-grandsons; two brothers; Bob Heinrich of Bloomington and Alvin Heinrich of Pontiac; and several nieces and nephews who were a very big part of her life.
Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chenoa.
She gave her life to raising her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and several neighborhood children.
She will be remembered for her cooking, baking and her open door kitchen where she would feed anyone that stopped by.
