Mary Frances Rigsby, 93, Fairbury, died at 7:25 pm Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Monday, November 4, 2013 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Fairbury with Fr. Scott Archer officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury where a rosary will be recited at 3:30pm. The family suggest memorials be directed to Fairview Haven Retirement Community; OSF Hospice or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Mrs. Rigsby was born July 29, 1920 in Fairbury, IL the daughter of James M. and Bridget E. Somers Glennon. She married James Hartzel Rigsby on June 13, 1945 in Fairbury, IL. He died on May 15, 2001.
Surviving are three daughters: Mary Catherine (Paul DeFries) Carter, Fairbury, IL; Bridget A. (Michael) Weber, Portland, Oregon; Theresa F. (Douglas) Carley, Gainesville, Georgia; two sons: James H. (Sue Sharif-Pour) Rigsby, San Dimas, CA; Thomas M. Rigsby, Fairbury, IL; one brother, Thomas Glennon, Chatsworth, IL; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by three brothers.
Mrs. Rigsby received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the Illinois State University, Normal. She taught school for 31 years beginning at Avoca country school, then Edison grade school and later Westview grade school, Fairbury.
She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church (formerly St. John the Baptist Catholic Church) Fairbury and the Altar and Rosary Society, the Illinois Teachers Retirement System and the VFW woman's auxiliary. Mrs. Rigsby enjoyed dancing, bowling, bridge and golf.
