Mary Ellen Sanders, 92, Fairbury, died at 8:12 pm Sunday, October 2, 2022 at OSF St. James-John Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

Mary Ellen was born January 5, 1930 in rural Fairbury, IL the daughter of Harry Herbert and Emma Frohling Mehrings.  She married Wayne Eldon Sanders on June 20, 1948 in Fairbury.  He preceded her in death on December 26, 2012.

Survivors include her children, Terry Lee Sanders, Fairbury; Brenda Sue Murray, Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bob Murray; one grandson; one grandson-in-law; and two sisters.

Mary Ellen was a 1948 graduate of Fairbury Twp. High School.  She worked at McDonald's Family Restaurant; Stephen Drug Store, Bricker Drug Store, Bellott Drug Store and lastly, Doc's Pharmacy where she retired at the age of 81.

Mary Ellen was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury.  She dearly loved her family and knew no stranger.  She will be sadly missed by all.

Per Mary Ellen's request all funeral arrangements will be private.  Burial will be in Avoca Twp. Cemetery, Fairbury.  Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements.  The family suggests memorials be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairbury; SELCAS; or Goldwater Care, Pontiac (formerly Good Samaritan Home).
