Mary Mae Traub, 71, Fairbury, died at 11:58 am Monday, October 7, 2013 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Apostolic Christian Church, Fairbury with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:00 to 9:45 am Friday at the church. The family suggests memorial offerings be given to the Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury or the charity of the donor's choice.
Miss Traub was the daughter of John George and Mary Leona Zehr Traub. She was born on October 15, 1941 in Fairbury, IL after her father's untimely death earlier that year.
Surviving are two brothers, Harvey (Barbara) Traub, Bloomington; John (Bonnie) Traub, Fairbury, IL; six sisters, Dorothy Martin, Universal City, TX; Ruth (Jeff) Streitmatter, Sarasota, FL; Kathryn (Lyle) Honegger, Fairbury; Evelyn Saal, Peoria, IL; Ida Lou (Gary) Gundy, Gridley, IL; and Marjorie (Bruce) Leman, Roanoke, IL.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Mary Mae was a Fairbury-Cropsey High School graduate. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. D.H. Johnston, Fairbury and later as a bookkeeper at Stoller Implement, Pontiac. She joined the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church in 1954. Mary Mae was a kind, generous, and selfless woman who thought of others before herself. She lovingly cared for her mother until her death in 1992. Mary Mae loved her church dearly. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and gardening. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.
