Obituary
Mattie Ruth Hummel, 87 of Fairbury, passed away at 4:45 am, Thursday, November 7, 2013 at ASTA Care Center, Pontiac.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, November 11, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Gretchen Steinbaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be one hour prior to her service on Monday, also at the memorial home in Fairbury. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
Mrs. Hummel was born August 6, 1926 in Macon, GA; the daughter of Roy and Mary (Perkins) Stanfill. She married Jack H. Hummel on September 1, 1943 in Macon, GA. He passed away on June 29, 1995.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol (Ron) Brackman, daughter in-law, Sharon Hummel both of Pontiac; five grandchildren and three great -grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, one sister and one son, William "Bill" Hummel in 2010.
Mattie worked as a CNA and Ward Clerk in Fairbury Hospital for over 37 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fairbury and Pontiac. Mattie loved spending time with her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
