Lexington: Maurice Charles Dunahee, 88, Lexington died 3:25am Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Illinois Veterans Home, Manteno.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at the Lexington Community Church, Lexington with the Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac with full military rites accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa and 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Mr. Dunahee was born July 18, 1917 at Eppards Point Twp., Livingston County. The son of Charles Elmer and Clara Elizabeth Anderson Dunahee. He married Lillie Mae Coffey, February 2, 1947 at Pontiac, IL. She died September 30, 1999.
Surviving are 2 sons, Ronald (Diane) Dunahee, Lexington, Darrell (Sherrill) Dunahee, Melvin, 1 brother, Kenneth (Beverly) Dunahee, 3 sisters, Eileen Baker, Mildred Hanshew and Audrey Malcolm.
Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Greg (Glenda) Dunahee, Kevin Dunahee and Kayla Dunahee, 2 step grandchildren, John (Rene') Thomas III and Jason (Nichole) Thomas. 1 Great grandson, Tyler Dunahee and 3 step great grandchildren, Haley, Alec and Calahan Thomas.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth P. Dunahee and 4 brothers, Ivan, Harold, Victor and Elmer Dunahee.
Mr. Dunahee was a 1935 graduate of Chenoa Twp. H.S. He served in the US Army (3/18/1942-1/6/1946) during WWII in the China/Burma, India Theatre. He was a member of the VFW, the 1st Baptist Church of Lexington and was a lifetime farmer. His hobbies included camping and hunting. He was a great father and will be deeply missed.
The family suggest memorials be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
