Obituary
Colfax – Maurice "Pete" Iler, 85, of Colfax, passed away at 8:50pm, May 6, 2014 at Asta Care Center of Colfax.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. Pastor Patti Meyer will be officiating.
Military honors will be performed by the Davis-Kerber American Legion, Post 653, Colfax.
Visitation will be held from 10-10:45am, Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Colfax Christian Church, American Heart Association or Asta Care Activity fund.
Pete was born July 15, 1928 in Cromwell, KY the son of John and Winona Taylor Iler. He married Mary Center on June 16, 1950 in Anchor. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Karen (Larry) Dorrell of Colfax, Gale Wheatley of Bloomington, Rebecca (Robert) Godbey of Colfax and Elizabeth (Mike) Cooper of Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Martha Tudor of KY; and sister-in-law, Eula Iler of KY.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Pete was a veteran of the United States Army from January 1952-December 1954, serving in Germany during the Korean Conflict.
Pete worked for McLean County Service Company as Credit Manager in the LP Department for 30 years.
He was the Martin Township Auditor for over 30 years and was a member and past president of the Davis-Kerber American Legion Lodge 653, Colfax for 60 years. Pete also attended the Colfax Christian Church.
