Fairbury – Maurice D. Steidinger, 80, of Fairbury, passed away at 11:40pm, December 21, 2013 at his residence.
Funeral will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church. Ministers of the Church will be officiating.
Burial will be in Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be held from 4-8:00pm, Monday, December 23, 2013 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9-9:45 on Tuesday at the Church.
Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice.
Maurice was born February 19, 1933 in Fairbury the son of Urban and Ollie Moser Steidinger.
He married Alma L. Meyer on December 16, 1956 in Bern, KS. She passed away January 17, 2000. He then married Ruth Howard on January 12, 2001. She survives in Fairbury.
Also surviving are his children; Elaine Mowery of Fairbury, Randall (Dawn) Steidinger of Forrest, Martin (Trish) Steidinger, Phyllis (Don) Welborn both of Fairbury, Janet (Todd) Sinn of Harland, OH, Keith (Kristine) Steidinger, Doug (Dixie) Steidinger and Ken Zapp all of Fairbury; ten siblings; 46 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, grandson, Chad Welborn, step-son, Bruce Marler and son-in-law, Dale Mowery.
Maurice was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict.
He was a carpenter and owned and operated Fairbury Corner Auction Service.
