Shirley – Maxine Neubauer, 78, of Shirley passed away August 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at her residence.
Cremation will be accorded. Friends and family are cordially invited to a celebration of life on Saturday, August 16, 2008 from 2-6:00 p.m. at The Parke Hotel and Conference Center on Towanda Barnes Rd, Bloomington.
In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials to be made to the Shirley Christian Church or McLean County 4-H.
Maxine was born February 17, 1930 in Bloomington the daughter of Clyde and Jennie Kimler Lamont. They preceded her in death. She married Charles "Chuck" Neubauer on July 5, 1953 in Normal. He survives.
Also surviving are her children, Susan (Dave) Drury of Danville, IN, Candi (Phil) Barker of Wildwood, MO, Connie (Jerry) VanWye of Atlanta, Julie Devaney of Lake Mary, FL, Carl (Mary) Neubauer of Downs, Lisa (Jim) Hume of St. Albans, MO and Lori (Jack) Fitzgerald of Bloomington and 14 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant sister.
Maxine graduated from Empire Township High School in 1948 and then graduated as a registered nurse from Mennonite School of Nursing. She then went to work as a critical care nurse for Brokaw/BroMenn Regional Medical Center ICU for more than 30 years. While employed there she received employee of the year.
She is a member of Shirley Christian Church, McLean County Barn Keepers, Rural Married Club, and McLean County Home Extension where she was past president of Dale Township Unit and an officer on the county board.
