Normal – Melissa Ann (Leggett) Belcher, 38, of Normal died peacefully in her parent's home in Chenoa surrounded by her family after a battle with cancer at 6:25 pm, Sunday, December 30, 2007. Her faith never wavered through Christ Jesus.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 PM., Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Presbyterian Church of Chenoa with Reverend David Benner and Nick Bair officiating the service. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa, IL.
Melissa was born August 4, 1969, in Normal, IL. a daughter to Larry and Linda (Streeper) Leggett. She married Esta Belcher on September 4, 1998 in Bloomington. He survives in Normal.
Also surviving are two daughters; Ashley Nagel and Alexis Nagel, step-daughter; Rachel Belcher, step-son; Jacob Belcher all of Normal. Parents; Larry & Linda Leggett, Chenoa, three sisters; Denise (James) Carlson, Bloomington, Susie (Jarrett) Brown, Tolono, IL, Elizabeth Leggett, Heyworth, IL, maternal grandfather, O.B. Streeper, Chenoa, paternal grandmother, Jessie Leggett, Normal.
Additional survivors are grandmother in-law; Louise Ford, Bloomington, mother in-law; Luella Belcher, Bloomington, in-laws; Bill (Deb) Belcher, Normal, Noah (Cathy) Belcher, Bloomington, Becky (Jeff) Bair, Hudson, Pam (Mark) Hicks, Bloomington, Ed (Jill) Belcher, Downs, aunts and uncles; Sharron Wiley, Bloomington, Marilyn and Jack Steinbach, Oswego, IL, Patricia and Donald Schenkel, Covell, IL, Janice Leggett, Bloomington, IL, Crystal and Allen Leggett, Normal, IL, Marge and Lynn Lamont, Clinton, IL., many cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother; Esther Streeper, grandfather; Lawrence Leggett, father in-law; William M. Belcher, uncle; Clyde Raymond Wiley II, and two cousins; Amy Leggett and Robin Steinbach.
Melissa was a 1987 graduate of Chenoa High School and graduated from Bloomington Academy of Beauty Culture. She was a homemaker, beautician and in home day care provider. She was a member of Bloomington Four Square Gospel Church. Melissa enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband and children. She cherished spending time with her family and friends.
