Michael Patrick Frickey, 58, Fairbury, died at 5:20 am Saturday, December 10, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, December 15, 2016 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Fairbury with Fr. Scott Archer officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with a rosary to be recited at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to St. Andrew Catholic Church, Fairbury or Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 186 "Cops for Kids" fund.
Mike was born April 8, 1958 in Evergreen Park, IL the son of Willard and Mary Mullman Frickey. He married Cynthia A. Clausen on September 29, 1979 in Dwight, IL. She survives in Fairbury.
Also surviving are their children, Megan (Bryan) Fehr, Fairbury, Jon (Crystal Athey) Frickey, Buffalo, MN, Dane Frickey, Fairbury, his five grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Maggie, Koltyn, Konnor, Nora Fehr and Aria Frickey, three sisters, Kathy and Linda Frickey, Pontiac, Gilda (Richard) Johnson, Kansas City, MO, and one brother, Bill (Jean Anne Thais) Frickey, Indianapolis, IN, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Mike attended Eureka College and was a career police officer who served the Livingston County area. He was a Livingston County Sheriff deputy (1979-1992) and an officer for the Fairbury Police Department (1992-2016) serving as Chief of the department (2013-2016).
Mike was the past president of the FOP Lodge #186, DARE officer, Prairie Central high school resource officer, a member of the Livingston County ERU team and Livingston County Proactive units. Mike was one of the founders of the CIFL program and a volunteer football coach for many years and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Fairbury.
One of Mike's greatest desires was to live long enough to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. And he did!
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. John Rinker and staff and Dr.Pramern Sriratana and the Community Cancer Center for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
