Fairbury – Michael Edwin Harms, 26, of Fairbury, passed away October 21, 2015 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Private family services have been held. Burial is in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.
Michael was born November 17, 1988 in Fairbury, the son of Dale and Debra Franklin Harms. They survive in Fairbury.
Also surviving are his paternal grandparents, Edwin and Thelma Harms of Forrest, his sister, Emily (Craig) Arbuckle of Mahomet; his brother, David (Chelsea) Harms of Muscatine, IA; his niece and nephews, Grant, Emma, and Caden Arbuckle and Noah Wolf; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Benjamin Paul and Martha Lee Franklin.
Michael had been the children's librarian at the Pontiac Public Library and currently was the director of the library.
"Mr. Michael" enjoyed educating and reading to all the children who came to the library for his many programs.
He loved rooting for the Black Hawks, White Sox, and the Bears.
Michael also had a great love for music.
Michael was an organ donor and the first to be honored with the Gift of Life flag ceremony at OSF St. Joseph.
