Fairbury – Michael Peters, 75, of Fairbury, passed away at 8:45 pm, October 20, 2026, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.

Visitation will be held from 2-4:00 pm, Saturday, October 24,2026, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Family asks you wear your favorite team apparel.

Interment will be held at a later date in Chenoa Township Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Prairie Central Athletic Boosters.

Michael was born August 25, 1951, on Bloomington, the son of Gera and Marie (Miller) Peters. He married Patricia “Trish” Schieman on September 23, 1977. She survives.

Also surviving are his sons, Scott Michael (Tanya) Peters of Reedsburg, WI and Kristopher Peters of McHenry; grandsons, Timothy Michael and Lucas Scott Peters; brothers, Jerry (Sheila Banika) Sandholm of Chicago and Bob (Peggy) Sandholm of GA and his beloved dog, Bella Grace.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Charlotte Griffin.

Michael retired from Central Soya in Gibson City. After retirement he enjoyed being busy and drove a delivery truck.

Michael enjoyed golfing and bowling. He loved all sports especially his Illinois teams- the Bears and the Illini, but his beloved Cubs always held a special place in his heart.

Time spent with his son and grandsons was his greatest joy and love.
