Obituary
Michael J. Streitmatter, 55, died Monday, May 9, 2011 at his residence in Ocean Springs, MS.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the 1st. Baptist Church, Fairbury with the Rev. Steve Anderson officiating.
Because of Michael's wish for a cure for cancer the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Abundant Life Baptist Church, Playground equipment fund, 1209 White Wing, McAllen, TX.
Michael was born August 9, 1955 the son of Edwin and Mary Streitmatter.
Surviving is his mother, Mary Streitmatter, Fairbury; one daughter, Christine Humphrey, New Bern, NC; one son, Andy Streitmatter, Ocean Springs, MS; three grandchildren, Daylan and Keith Humphrey, and Brialle Streitmatter; three sisters, Rhea Ummel, Hilton Head, SC, Nancy (Gary) Lenz, McAllen, TX, and Julie (Richard) Bell, Decatur, IL.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Mike grew up and attended school in Forrest, IL. He later served in the US Marine Corps for three years. He was a member of the Life Baptist Church where he had intended on constructing playground equipment for their youth program.
