Mildred Helena Meyer Petersen of Colfax, IL went to her heavenly home at 8:35am, Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal

Visitation will be from 9 – 11 am on Friday, June 1, 2018, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Colfax.     Funeral will be at 11 am, with Pastor Tom Krieger officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred was born November 14, 1926 in Strawn, IL, the daughter of Theodore and Minnie Winter Meyer.   She married John H. Petersen on January 27, 1949 at the Sibley Lutheran Church.    He died on February 7, 1986.

Survivors include son Kent, Colfax; daughter Renette (Rick) Althouse, Lexington; grandchildren Heather (Joel) Jones, Clinton; Derek (Kelsey) Althouse, Clinton; and Kelsey (Preston) McNamara, Colfax.   Great-grandchildren are Caitlynn, Jackson, and Easton Jones, Matthew and Marissa Althouse, and Holly McNamara.

Mildred was proceeded in death by her parents, her brothers Carl and Donald, her sister Vera, and an infant sister.

Mildred graduated from Strawn Grade School and Sibley High School.  She attended The College Secretarial in Bloomington and then was employed at the McLean Country Home Bureau Office in Bloomington for four years prior to her marriage, working for the home advisors.   She lived in the Colfax area after marriage, and was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a member.

Grandma Mil will be greatly missed by her family.
