Mildred A. Sommer, 89 of Chenoa, passed away at 7:25 pm, Friday, November 16, 2018 at Heddington Oaks in West Peoria.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Chenoa Twp. Cemetery, Chenoa.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Chenoa Public Library or Chenoa Food Pantry.

Mildred was born August 2, 1929 in Chenoa, IL, a daughter of Esco and Dana Stapp Grider.  She married Joseph W. Sommer, Jr. on August 1, 1948 in Oxford, IN.  He passed away on October 1, 2014.

She is survived by two sons, Roger (Shelia) Sommer of Chenoa and Tim Sommer of Peoria; four grandchildren, Strider Sommer, Shannon Affeldt, Seaver Sommer, and Stirling Sommer and four great-grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister.

Mildred was a secretary and librarian for Chenoa Grade School for 30 years and was a member of the Meadows Mennonite Church in Meadows.
