Milton L. Tinges, 84 of Chenoa, died at 3:30 am, Monday, January 12, 2015 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
His funeral service will be at 10:30am, Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with Father Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa; with military honors conducted by the Chenoa American Legion and VFW posts.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 also at the funeral home in Chenoa. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chenoa or SELCAS.
Mr. Tinges was born December 15, 1930 in Pontiac, moving to Chenoa in 1935; the son of William J. and Elma (Stephenson) Tinges. He married Alieta Hornsby August 25, 1951 in Morris. She survives in Chenoa.
Other survivors include two sisters, Shirley (James) Stymiest of Streator and Sally (Chuck) Kauffman of Chenoa; one brother in-law, Arthur (Kathy) Hornsby of Morris; one sister in-law, Margaret Ann Tinges of Chenoa; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ronald Tinges.
Milton served his country in Korea from 1952 to 1954 in the US Army Air Corp. being discharged from Fort Wolters in Mineral Wells, TX.
Milton and Alieta returned to Chenoa in 1954 and assumed their role in the family business with Pontiac Cars and GMC trucks; eventually going into Evinrude Motors and Sea Nymph Boats which they really enjoyed for many years.
