Obituary

Nina Pearl Treadwell, 97, of Fairbury, passed away at 8:44 am, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Woodridge Supportive Living Facility, Pontiac.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Fairbury with Pastor Daryl Evans officiating. Burial will follow in South Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury will be assisting the family with arrangements.

Visitation will be 11am to 12:45pm prior to services on Wednesday also at the church in Fairbury. Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church of Fairbury or OSF Hospice.

Mrs. Treadwell was born December 10, 1916 in Mt. Gilead, KY; the daughter of Ida Belle Hume and Albert Rasner. She married Harold Treadwell on June 25, 1944, in Chicago. Her husband preceded her in death in December of 1995.

Also preceding her in death were her parents, five bothers, five sisters and son in-law, Jim Ropp.

Survivors include two daughters, Harolyn Ropp of Cornelius, NC; Janice (Curtis) Meiss of Fairbury, IL; one sister, Christine Johnson of Kingsford Heights, IN; one brother, William Wick Bushong of Sweetwater, TN; two grandsons, Douglas Ropp of Charlotte, NC; Dr. Kenneth (Marli) Meiss of Peoria, IL; two granddaughters, Christina (Rob) Dowell of Mebane, NC; Traci (Scott) Daimid of Orland Park, IL; and 6 great granddaughters, with the seventh to be born in October 2014.

Nina graduated from Tompkinsville, KY H.S. in 1938 and Heins Beauty College, Chicago in 1939. She worked as a beautician in Chicago and in 1954 came to Fairbury working until her retirement in 2010, a total of 71 years.

Mrs. Treadwell was a member of Mt. Gilead, KY Church of Christ and baptized in a country creek near the church. She was also a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Chicago teaching 3rd grade Sunday school. In Fairbury Nina attended First Baptist Church and served as president of the Maranatha Society for 15 years before moving to Woodridge SLF, Pontiac in 2013. She was a member of Fairbury Music Lovers Club.

Nina will be remembered for her determination to keep going, no gray hairs, never complaining, always smiling and her work longevity. She always made an effort to be with family and friends, even in her last days.
