Obituary
Omer Edmund Coomes, 93, of Chenoa died Saturday, January 05, 2008 at 5:40AM at Meadow Mennonite Retirement Community.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 from 5-7:00PM at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 10:00AM at Chenoa Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery.
Omer was born June 9, 1914 in Hawesville, KY at son of Oral and Effie Norton Coomes. They preceded him in death.
He married Esther Lee Sketo on December 24, 1938 in Hawesville, KY. She died June 25, 1986.
Surviving are his children, Linda (Fritz) Kasuske of Naples, FL, Janet (Earl) Gaddis of Shattuck, OK, Gary (Carolyn) Coomes of North Port, FL, Diana (John) Phillips of Bloomington, Kevin (Pat) Coomes of Long Prairie, MN, and Karen Masso of Champaign; 22 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Omer drove a truck for Chenoa Stone Company.
He is a member of Chenoa Baptist Church.
The family suggests that memorial may be made to the Chenoa Baptist Church.
