Obituary

Opal V. (Frederick) Bauman, 99 of Chenoa died at 5:05 pm, Friday, October 3, 2008 at the Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community where she has resided for the past several years.

Her funeral service will be, 10:30 am Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenoa, with Pastor Edward Hudelson and Pastor Steve Estes officiating. Interment will take place in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm, Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the Duffy Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa.

Mrs. Bauman was born June 29, 1909 in Randolph Nebraska to Wm. O. and Ada E. Petty Frederick. She married Clarke Bauman January 15, 1930 in Chenoa. He died, April 11, 1988. She also was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and four brothers.

Surviving is one daughter Margene (Merle) Chapman, Pinehurst, North Carolina, three grandsons Douglas Chapman, Wake Forest, NC, Dennis (Kathy) Chapman, South Riding,Va. and Greg, (Julie) Chapman, Potomac Falls, Md. and seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Ethan, Collin of N.C., Sarah and Dylan of Va. and Scott and Steven of Md.

The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenoa, or Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.

Opal was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Ladies Auxiliary and in earlier years the Esmeralda Club and Home Bureau. Her greatest pastime was crocheting and attending the many activities at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
