Obituary

Oretha Maxine Betts, 91, Chenoa died at 9:50 pm Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Meadows Mennonite Home, Chenoa.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, June 1, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Chenoa with Pastor Rob McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 10:45 am Monday at the Church. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials be given to the United Methodist Church or Meadows Mennonite Home, both in Chenoa or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Betts was born March 13, 1918 in North Muddy Twp., Jasper County, IL the daughter of Gobern Henry and Zula Elizabeth Clark Bryan. She married Gaillard Merl Workman on January 4, 1935 in South Muddy Twp., IL. He died October 9, 1963. She married William H. Betts on June 2, 1979 in Chenoa. He survives in Chenoa.

Also surviving is one daughter, Martha L. (Marvin) Telford, Pontiac; two sons, Howard (Barbara) Workman, Ottawa, Mark L. (Brita) Workman, Rockford; one step son, Stephen R. Betts, Birchwood, Oregon; one foster son, Richard Baerlocher, Portland, Oregon; one brother, Maynard D. Bryan, Lufkin, TX; twelve grandchildren, six step grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, one daughter and one grandson.

Mrs. Betts was a member of the United Methodist Church of Chenoa, the VFW auxiliary and volunteered at the Meadows Mennonite Home. She also was a member of Bill's Fun Band.
