Obituary

Cropsey: Owen L. Pratt, 76, of Cropsey, died at 2:08 pm, Thursday, February 21, 2008 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal, IL.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 pm, Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Monday, February 25, 2008 at the United Methodist Church of Cropsey, Cropsey, IL with Pastor Paulette Cott officiating the service. Burial will follow in Cropsey Cemetery, Cropsey, IL with full military rites accorded by the J.A. Fowell Forrest American Legion Post #174.

Mr. Pratt was born October 23, 1931 in Cropsey, the son of Harry F. and Mabel Anna (Huppert) Pratt. He married Betty Schaefer on November 21, 1954 in Graymont, IL. She survives in Cropsey.

Other survivors include two sons; Norman L. (Jeannine) Pratt, Howell, MI, David (Teresa) Pratt, Colfax, IL, one daughter; Sandra L. (Jeff) Stiles, Rochelle, IL, one brother; Perry (Marge) Pratt, Pontiac, IL, two sisters; Donna Legg, Sunlakes, AZ, Dorothy (Ollie) Myers, Lexington, IL.

Also surviving are six grandchildren; Derek and Jarod Swackhamer, Daniel and Jacob Pratt, Josiah Stiles and Cameron Pratt.

He was preceded in death by both parents, one brother; Morris A. Pratt and one granddaughter, Lauren Stiles.

Mr. Pratt was a lifetime member of the Cropsey United Methodist Church. He lived in rural Cropsey his entire life. He was a graduate of Strawn High School. He served in U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and belonged to the J.A. Fowell Forrest American Legion Post #174.

Owen farmed and raised livestock in Cropsey until retirement in 1997. He was a Livingston County Farm Bureau Director for 19 years. He served as a director for the Citizens State Bank of Cropsey for 35 years including 20 years as President. He was active in 4-H as a youth and served as a leader for the Fayette Fantastics 4-H Club for 12 years. Mr. Pratt was also a member of the Livingston County Country Couples group.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to the Cropsey United Methodist Church or the Livingston County Extension Education Association/4-H.
