Paul G. Augsburger, 80, of Fairbury, died at 9:22 am Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Paul was born September 30, 1945 in Highland, IL, the son of George and Viola Weishaupt Augsburger.

Survivors include significant other, Jan Kester of Fairbury, son; Paul (Tania Farries) of Chicago, IL, daughter; Peggy Augsburger of Gallatin, TN, Step-sons; Matt (Jayme) Curl of Fairbury, IL and Jeff (Bridget) Curl of Fairbury, IL, siblings; Joan Haren of Cullom, IL, Judith Augsburger of Chatsworth, IL, Jean Loercher of Whitefish, MT, Janet Jennings of Glendale, AZ, Philip Augsburger of Dallas, TX, and Perry (Alma) Augsburger of Fairbury, IL, grandson; Jared (Kayla) Mungo, of Goodlettsville, TN, great-granddaughter; Amalia Mungo, step-grandchildren; Katy Curl, Tyler (Paige) Curl, Ellie Curl, Jesslyn Curl and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by sister; Joyce Grana, brothers-in-law; John Grana, Galen Haren, and Dick Loercher.

A celebration of life will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the Chatsworth American Legion. Military honors will be at 3:00 pm, also at the Chatsworth American Legion on Saturday. A private family burial will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL at a later date. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Chatsworth American Legion, Fairbury VFW, Fairbury Fair, or Fairbury American Legion Speedway

Paul proudly served in the United States Army, being stationed in Korea from 1967-1968. He was a past Post commander in the Fairbury VFW Post #9789. He was also a member of the Walter Clemons Post #613 American Legion of Chatsworth. Paul was an avid racing fan, taking special interest in the Fairbury American Legion Speedway and NASCAR races. He was a Fairbury Fair board member. He also loved watching the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. Paul will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
