Colfax – Paul B. Keighin, 88 of Colfax, passed away at 8:56 am Wednesday, December 31, 2008, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
His memorial service will be Saturday, January 17, 2009, at 11:00 am at the Colfax United Methodist Church, with the visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private family burial will take place at Wiley Cemetery, Colfax. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Paul was born August 6, 1920, in Jewel, OH, the son of Clarence B. and Isabel Latham Keighin. He married Mary Jean Gray on April 19, 1942, in St. Louis. She died April 22, 2005.
Surviving are two children, Paula (Lonnie) Meiner of Colfax and John Keighin of Salt Lake City, UT; three grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Cheever of Lexington, Tricia (Urs) Alder of Sydney, Australia, and Kristi (fiance' Dan Cagney) of Chicago; three great-grandchildren, Callie and Joseph Cheever and Charlotte Alder, two brothers, Kenneth (Grace) Keighin, Carlock, and Robert (Lillian) Keighin, Saunemin.
Following graduation from University High School in Normal, Paul attended the University of Illinois and Illinois Wesleyan University prior to enlisting in the United States Air Force. He served as a First Lieutenant during WWII.
He was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church, and a 50 year, 32nd degree mason of the Masonic Lodge in Bloomington.
Paul farmed and was a 25 yr. Country Companies Insurance Agent in Colfax.
He and his wife were avid boaters and travelers. Paul and Jean were also very involved with their grandchildren, rarely missing a school or sporting event.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Colfax United Methodist Church or EMCAA.
