Chenoa native, Steve Albeck, 65, of Marietta, Georgia, formerly of Chenoa died Monday, August 20, 2012 in Georgia. He was born December 16, 1946 to Charles "Chad" Albeck and Ruby (Powell) Albeck.

Steve moved to Marietta from Dallas, TX; in 1995. Shortly after his arrival he established Cowboys Concert and Dance Hall, Kenneshaw, GA. Cowboys provided country music and dancing for the patrons of metro Atlanta and surrounding counties for many years, regularly scheduling country music entertainers such as Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Charlie Daniels, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Tracey Lawrence, Steve Wariner, and many others. Cowboys received numerous awards and recognition for best dance and country music venue.

Steve's other interests included receiving his pilot's license and he became a loyal fan of the Univ. of Georgia Bulldogs football. Even so, in his heart he was always a "Chenoa Redbird". He was a graduate of Chenoa High School and Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, TX; with a business degree. Steve served his country in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge April 29, 1969. He attained the rank of Corporal.

Steve is survived by two brothers, Stan (Phyllis) Albeck of San Antonio, Texas; and George (Janet) Albeck of Adrian, Michigan; several nieces and nephews, and a bunch of Powell cousins plus one aunt, Helen Powell.

A memorial service for family, friends, and former employees was held in Marietta, GA; on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. There will be a celebration of Steve's life and graveside services during the annual Powell reunion in July, 2013. There will be another notice near that time. Duffy Pils Funeral Home, Chenoa, will be assisting the family with local arrangements.
