Pearl Schmidt, 91, Fairbury died at 10:34am Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Fairview Haven Nursing Home, Fairbury.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Pastor Steven Livengood will be officiating. Burial will be in the Fairbury Apostolic Christian Cemetery
Visitation will be held from 4-6:00pm, Friday, September 28, 2012 at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be given to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury or the donor's choice of charity.
Pearl was born June 4, 1921 in Weston, the daughter of John Henry and Maggie Hoffman Winterland. She married Frank Schmidt on January 9, 1943. He died January 5, 2009 in Fairbury.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty J. Schmidt, Beardstown; Patti L. (Patrick) Roach, Kankakee; one son Jerry (Nicole) Schmidt, Longmont, CO.; four grandchildren, Scott (Rona) Schmidt, Traci (Mike) Nelson, Kevin (Jessica) Roach, Kelli Roach; and five great grandchildren; Justin, Easton, and Avery Nelson and Jacob and Wayne Tassic; one sister, Viola Atkins of Chenoa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Pearl was a cook at Westview Elementary School, Fairbury for many years.
She was a member of the Boys and Girls Club and American Legion Auxiliary.
She loved riding bicycles with her friends. Pearl was accomplished at crocheting and enjoyed quilting with her mother.
She also taught herself and enjoyed playing the organ by ear.
