Fairbury – Peggy Sue Kerrins, 51, of Fairbury, passed away at 4:36am, March 5, 2015 surrounded by her loved ones, at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Her funeral will be held at 10:00am, Monday, March 9, 2015 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. Pastor David Heath will be officiating.
Burial will be in South Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be held from 2-6:00pm, Sunday, March 8, 2015 also at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Peggy Kerrins Charity Fund established at First State Bank of Forrest.
Peggy was born October 5, 1963, in Bloomington, the daughter of Nyles and Eldora Cremeens Schumm.
She married Darren Kerrins on February 18, 1983 in Pontiac. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Eldora Coggins of Chenoa; son Nyles Schumm of Fairbury; daughter, Jennifer (Trent) Johnson of Evansville, WI; grandchildren, Kole, Klyne, and Kellen Johnson; brothers, Jerry (Angela) Coggins of Katy, TX, David Schumm of Reserve, New Mexico, Jim Coggins of Hopedale, Roger (Tina) Schumm of Pontiac; sisters, Paula (Max) Poppe of LaGrange, Lori (Gary) Lockwood of Pekin, Sheila (Robert) Powers of Fairbury, Dawn (John) Hurt of Pontiac, and Annette (John) Thompson of Bloomington; brother-in-law, Keenan (Lila) Kerrins of Saukville, WI.
She was preceded in death by her father and step-father, Leslie Coggins.
Peggy last worked in housekeeping at Fairview Haven. She had a special gift working with Alzheimer's patients which she enjoyed doing while an activity aide at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community.
She loved volunteering with her husband at the Fairbury American Legion Speedway, Fairbury Fair, and Fairbury Haunted House.
Peggy enjoyed going on motorcycle rides with her husband, clerking auctions for her son, and spoiling her precious grandchildren.
Peggy had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Her generosity and love will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
