Perry Russell Pratt, 86, a resident of Asta Care Center, Pontiac and formerly of Cropsey died at 7:45 am Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Asta Care Center, Pontiac.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury and 9:30 to 10:30 am Friday at the United Methodist Church, Cropsey. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Friday at the United Methodist Church, Cropsey with Pastor Paulette Cott officiating. A private inurnment will take place in Cropsey Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be given to the Cropsey United Methodist Church, Asta Care Center of Pontiac, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Pratt was born on the family farm in Cropsey, IL on September 22, 1924. He continued to live on the family farm until moving to Asta Care Center in 2004. He married Margery Weber on April 20, 1952 in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Pontiac.
Also surviving are three sons, Larry (Deanna) Pratt, Cropsey, IL, Jerry (Darlene) Pratt, Bloomington, IL, Brian (Julie of Danforth, IL) Pratt, Martinton, IL, two daughters, Teri (Rick) Adams, Normal, IL, Bonnie (Jim) Davis, Odell, IL, eleven grandchildren, Emily, Allison, Garrett and Vivienne Pratt, Scott (Fiancée, Kelsey) and Sara Pratt, Kerri (Matt) Fuller, Kelli (Burl) Stanley, Eric Adams, Matthew and Amy Davis, three great grandchildren, Adrian Bond, Jordan Fuller, and Karlee Pratt, two sisters, Donna Legg, Sun Lakes, AZ and Dorothy (Ollie) Myers, Lexington, IL, and two sisters-in-law, Judy Pratt, Indianapolis, IN and Betty Pratt, Fairbury, IL.
He is preceded in death by two brothers, Morris and Owen Pratt.
Mr. Pratt was a 1942 graduate of Strawn High School. He was active in the Cropsey United Methodist Church. He was a lifetime livestock farmer who started exhibiting livestock at the Fairbury Fair in 1934. In addition to the Fairbury Fair he exhibited at many State and County Fairs. Other accomplishments included being the first 4-H member from Livingston County selected to attend Club Congress in 1945. Mr. Pratt had been a member of the American Southdown Breeders Association, a charter member of the Livingston County Country Couples (1955), director of the Citizens State Bank of Cropsey for 38 years, director of Eastern Illini Electric for 25 years, served as the Cropsey township cemetery sexton for 33 years. An avid sports fan Perry played on the Forrest Comets Semi-Pro football team in his youth and continued to enjoy sports his entire life.
