Fairbury – Peter B. Schaffer, 102, of Fairbury, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, in Fairbury, IL.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 at the Christian Apostolic Church, Forrest. Ministers of the church will be officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 pm, Monday, January 27th, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. There will also be a visitation held on Tuesday, prior to the funeral, from 9:00 – 9:45 am at the church.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charity.

Peter was born on April 28, 1922, in Fairbury, the son of Peter and Katie (Gerber) Schaffer. He married Emma Bittner on October 13, 1945, in Pontiac. She preceded him in death on February 4th, 2021.

He is survived by his children, Joyce (Lloyd) Honegger of Fairbury, Ron (Vicki) Schaffer of Forrest, Warren (Jan) Schaffer of Lexington, Rebecca (Howard) Buck of Clearwater, FL, Steve (Debra) Schaffer of Saunemin, Lynn (Becky) Schaffer of Fairbury, and Kevin (Martha) Schaffer of Fairbury; brother, Richard (Elsie) Schaffer; sister-in-law, Jeanne Bittner; 41 grandchildren, 127 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son - Peter Allen Schaffer, two grandchildren, two brothers, and five sisters.
