Phyllis Irene Bartlett, 87, of Clinton, Illinois, died February 28, 2010 at the Heritage Manor in Normal. Phyllis was an incredible mother, grandmother, and great grandmother (G.G.); her eternally positive outlook and big heart will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Phyllis was born on April 29, 1922 in Gibson, Illinois to Betty and Raymond Deputy. She married her husband Robert "Bug" Bartlett on December 1, 1945. Phyllis was a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church. She served as Township Supervisor of Clintonia County until her retirement in 1988.
Phyllis was devoted to her family, traveling across the country nearly every winter to spend Christmas with her children and grandchildren. She loved to play cards with family and friends, especially rummy and bridge. Phyllis also enjoyed rooting for the White Sox, Illini Basketball, and all kinds of desserts and sweets.
Phyllis is survived by her children Beverly (Bill) McKeown of Bloomington, Illinois, Mark (Patricia) Bartlett of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Betsy (Paul) Sharkey of Missoula, Montana; her dear friend Julie Lappin; her grandchildren Kelli, Todd (Kristine), Aaron, Adam, Laura, Ashley, Ross (Lyndsey), and Stacey; and her great grandchildren Tyler, Tanner, Taylor, T.J., and Skyllar. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, and sister.
Phyllis's family appreciates the care she received at Heritage Manor and would like to thank her nurses and care takers of whom she grew very fond.
A graveside inurnment service will be scheduled at a later date at Graceland Cemetery in Fairbury, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Clinton, Illinois.
