Phyllis Joan Fortna, 80, Pontiac, died at 8:00pm Sunday, October 27, 2013 at her residence, Pontiac.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 1, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Pontiac with the Rev. Ray Owens officiating. Inurnment will be in Forrest Twp. Cemetery, Forrest, IL.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Pontiac. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to Evenglow Lodge or the First United Methodist Church, both of Pontiac.
Phyllis was born March 20, 1933 in Forrest, IL the daughter of Shelby and Clella Maude Perkins Stephens. She married Donald E. Fortna on January 31, 1954 in Forrest, IL. He survives in Pontiac, IL.
Other survivors include one brother, Thomas A. (Carolyn) Stephens, Forrest, IL; two sisters, Hazel I. Honzik, Seminole, FL and Mary Ruth Ricketts, Fairbury, IL.
She is preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Phyllis was a 1950 graduate of Saunemin High School. She was a retired Postal Clerk having served the Forrest and Pontiac area from 1951 to 1988.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pontiac; an American Red Cross volunteer; and the Pontiac Elks Club ladies golf association. Phyllis was an avid bridge player and enjoyed mountain and canyon hiking in Arizona with her husband Don and friends. She also had previously gone on a mission trip to Haiti.
