Obituary
Phyllis R. Towner, 77 of Colfax, died April 8, 2007 at 11:00PM BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
Cremation will be accorded. Friends may greet the family from 9-10AM on Saturday, April 14, 2007 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Colfax with a memorial service at 10:00AM also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Wiley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Heart and Lung Association.
Phyllis was born on April 18, 1929 in Wabeno, WI a daughter of Charles and Irene Griepentrog Umland. They preceded her in death. She married Donald G. Towner on September 22, 1950. He died July 18, 1978.
Surviving are her children; Donald C. (Diane) Towner of Rural Melvin, Hope D. (Michael) Fortney of Bloomington, Byron F. (Kelli) Towner of Cabot, AR, Timothy N. Towner of Colfax; Grandchildren, Michael M. Fortney, James (Michelle) Towner, Shelby L. Towner, Matthew R. (Kaylene) Towner, Megan L. Towner, Matt Reynolds, Kari (Aaron) DeFries; Great-Grandchildren, Rylan DeFries, Coletin Towner, Mayleigh Towner, and Macy Towner; two sister, Terri L. (Jack) Umland of Lincolnwood and Judith K. (Richard) Johnson of Bloomington.
Phyllis was a homemaker and worked as a clerk for the Village of Colfax for many years.
She loved to painting and painting ceramics and reading books. She greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
