Chenoa: Rebecca Joy Strike Vaughan, 59 of Austin, TX, formerly of Chenoa, passed away on June 18, 2007 in Austin, TX. A memorial service was held June 21, 2007 at Oak Hill Bible Church in Austin where she was a member.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the new Chenoa Fire Station on Rt. 24 followed by an inurnment in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.

Becky was born July 25, 1947 in Fairbury Hospital the daughter to Edward and Frances Vaughan Strike of Chenoa, IL.

Surviving are one daughter; Mickie Lewnfield (John) Hernandez, Austin, TX; one brother; Fire Chief John (Bertha) Strike, Chenoa, 2 nieces; Dawn (John) Halcom, Bloomington and Rebecca Warsaw, St. Louis, MO, 4 nephews; Dale Strike, Chenoa, Mark (Rachel) Strike, Fairbury, Scott Strike, Lexington and Thomas Warsaw, Chesterfield, MO, four great nieces and nephews, Dustin, Amethyst and Sara Beth Strike and Brandyn Halcom. Also surviving are lifelong friend, Lois Marcordo and life partner, Zeke Almanza both of Austin, TX.

Her parents, one sister; Frances "Cookie" Warsaw preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be directed to Oak Hill Bible Church, PO Box 90014, Austin, TX 78709.

Becky was a 1966 graduate of Chenoa High School. After spending several years in Florida she moved to Austin, TX in 1976. Her love of children drew her to teach at day care centers and to lead Brownie and Girl Scout Troops. Her compassion for people led her to volunteer at Austin's Oak Hill Fire Dept. as an EMT and attracted her to her recent employment at Capital Metro as a Senior Transportation Service Driver. Her never ending love of animals compelled her to be surrounded by animals of all species.
