Richard A. Steidinger, 86 of Fairbury died at 8:34 pm, Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury.
There will be a private family service with burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury; with full military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Fairview Haven Retirement Community, Fairbury. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is in charge of services.
Mr. Steidinger was born on November 21, 1928 in Fairbury; the son of Aaron and Arlene (Entwistle) Steidinger. He married Dorothy Van Fossan on February 1, 1952. She passed away on September 15, 1993. He later married Catherine Anderson in October of 2000. She passed away in October of 2010. His parents and one sister, Lorene "Bunny" VanSickle also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Cathy (Michael) McGregor of Jackson, TN; three sons, Larry (Rhonda) Steidinger, Doug (Karen) Steidinger and Paul (Dawn) Steidinger all of Fairbury; one brother, James (Joan) Steidinger of Fairbury; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Richard served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the John Joda American Legion Post #54, Fairbury and First United Methodist Church also of Fairbury. Dick and his brother Jim co-owned and operated Steidinger Tire Inc., Fairbury for many years.
Richard enjoyed photography, chess, golf and traveling. He was an avid "Chicago Sports Fan" always hoping for a winning season. Dick loved grilling his secret recipe chicken on Sunday afternoons and spending time with his family, who will miss him deeply.
