Richard C. "Dick" Anderson, 75, of Decatur, died February 26, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.

Dick was born and raised in Fairbury, IL on March 13, 1942.  He was the son of A. Keith and Virginia (Nesler) Anderson.  He was a veteran of the US Army National Guard.  On July 5, 1969 he married, Glenda L. Atwell, in Fairbury, IL.  She preceded him in death on December 9, 2006.

Surviving are his life companion of 11 years, Sandra Sorensen; his children, Michael Anderson (Jeanmarie) of Oklahoma City, OK, Ann Margaret Thorp (Edward) of Streator, IL, Richard Anderson (Alytia) of Champaign, IL; step-children, Kristi Emme of Kansas City, MO,  Natalee Plevritis (Lou) of Elmhurst, IL, Nicole Suddarth (Damon) of Decatur, IL; sister, Suzanne Hoover (David) of Boulder, CO; brother, Robert Anderson (Miriam) of Cleveland, TN; 1 niece and 1 nephew, 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Dick began his professional career with the family printing business, Record Printing in Fairbury, IL.  He continued working in the printing industry with Johnson Printing in Pontiac, IL, and then entered into a sales career with Illinois Graphics, Bloomington IL.  He followed this experience by pursuing a sales career with Midwest Electronics, where he worked for many years.  He enjoyed working with his customers, whom he considered friends.

One of Dick's greatest passions was supporting all facets of the Fairbury-Cropsey Band Program and school system, as a whole.   Dick spent many years dedicating his time to being the official statistician for the football and basketball programs.  Dick is well remembered for his booming voice, announcing high school basketball games and Saturday night stock car races to enthusiastic crowds.  Dick was also a lifelong, diehard fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers.  Over the span of several decades, Dick took pride in holding many leadership positions with several organizations, including, The American Legion, Moose and Elk's Club.

Dick proudly donated his tissue and organs to Gift of Hope to continue helping others.

Dick will always be best remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, life companion and friend.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, March 2, 2018 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.

A second visitation will be be from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Maple St, Fairbury, IL.  Funeral service will follow visitation at 3:00 PM at the church.  Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with local arrangements.
